Christine Random did come Sunday night. It was fantastic.
I have a new watch. Thank the Maker! It's wonderful knowing what time it is again. I was starting to twitch without it. *grin*

We're leaving for Oregon today and my cd player went out last night. *grumbles* I suppose I'll survive. I won't be back until next Monday.

Have a great Thanksgiving, one and all.

*floats around*
I just received the most wonderfully superb news! I'm sitting here in the Computer Lab at the college, doing mundane things like checking my email, same old same old and all that, when I notice that I have 2 emails at an address that generally doesn't get that many at a time. I open the inbox and one of them is junk. But the other is from Christine Random. You remember Christine--the one I wrote the backwards letter to. *wink*
In her letter, she said that (drumroll, please) she and her family will most likely be in church with us on Sunday night!!!! That makes me very, very happy.

In other news, I'm feeling better. That does not necessarily mean I AM better, but I'm feeling better. My cough doesn't sound all that great (do coughs EVER sound good?) and my nose is still running (haven't caught it yet), but I don't feel like crawling in a hole and dying anymore.

Just a heads up to Kathey and Emma--if this hasn't cleared up at least some by Sunday, I can't do Sunday School. I'm not going to risk infecting all those darling little children.

In more other news: Kathey had a Princess House (is that right?) Party last night. Actually, it was a tea. It was great fun, and the tea was superbly excellent, along with the sandwiches and the cookies and that cake stuff. *grin*

In more other other news: Physics lab only took an hour and a half yesterday. That's including the instructions. All we had to do was map a magnetic field. That includes this slightly ridiculous routine with a compass, and sprinkling iron filings onto a piece of plastic. It was interesting.

I had a Jamba Juice this morning--Carribean Passion with an immunity boost. That might account for my feeling better, I don't know. Anyway, I got a lot of strange looks from people who thought it was too cold to be drinking a smoothie. But it doesn't matter. I can drink them all winter long.

I get my test back in PreCalc today. I think I did pretty well on it, but that could be overconfidence: you never know. I'll reserve judgement until I see the grade. For all I know, I could have made half a dozen stupid mistakes like I did on the last exam. That's one thing that's really annoying about math: if you have a problem that has several steps and mess up the first one, the entire problem is incorrect. But I gave a painfully exact answer on one of the questions. The answer he wanted was "the year 2068" or something like that. I wrote (and it was right) "2:24 pm, Friday, March 18, 2067 AD" or something to that effect. It was fun.

I think my time limit is almost up, so farewell.

Get lost at sea
Where I could lose myself
Where I'll be blind and free}

And here's the post from the past:

"As far as I’m concerned, the only snow-like substance you’ll see in Napa around wintertime is the mounds of Kleenex in the garbage cans. Looks like jolly great snow mounds, only not half so pretty. *sniffle cough cough*

I wrote another letter to Christine yesterday. *smiles proudly* I wrote it backwards too. It was great fun. I told her about the two light bulbs that have blown out in my room. I’ll bet they were on a series circuit. ;-)

It’s the weirdest thing: A month or two ago, I had this dream that the Sunday School department was putting on a play. But it was a play that had been pre-recorded and nobody had to sing or talk. They just kind of sat there. Well, guess what? That’s what two of the classes are doing. A pre-recorded play. Scawwy.

I want to see the Ballad of Little Joe again. That is just the cutest VeggieTales ever. I absolutely adored it, but nobody I know has it. I take that back. My cousins have it. Unfortunately, my cousins live about seven hours north of here. I don’t want to see it THAT badly.

I just listened to Relient K’s Christmas album. One word: interesting. Veeeerrrrry interesting. Their rendition of the “Twelve Days of Christmas” was highly entertaining at any rate.

My history class for Wednesday has been cancelled, much to my mixed dismay and delight. Dismay because I absolutely adore that class. Delight because this means I don’t have to show up to school until noon, and then I only have an exam. I think I can be out of there in an hour or so.

I have my schedule all figured out. I just have to get it approved through the whole “registration” process. Speech, Spanish, Trig, and Art are on the menu for Spring. And I have a friend in Speech, Spanish, and Art, and one of the guys in my PreCalc class might be taking the Trig with me. I don’t know yet.

Speaking of PreCalc, pray for a girl named Ashley. She sits next to me and came to class crying yesterday. I didn’t want to pry, but something’s really eating at her.

I think that’s all I have to say.

So we're sitting in PreCalc, taking our third exam. Everything is quiet. Even the hallways are relatively silent for once.

Then this guy walks by, talking rather loudly, and all we hear as he passes the door is, "kiss me, baby, I'm yo neighbor!"

There was another second of silence, then the entire class cracked up.

It was very funny.

I wrote some stuff on my computer at home and put it on a disk to bring here so I could post it, but guess what? I forgot the disk. I brought a different backpack, so I can't post it yet. I'll try to do that tomorrow.

My History Class was cancelled today. I have rather mixed feelings about that. On the one hand, I love history and that class in particular. On the other hand, it's nice having three days in a row to sleep in, especially since I'm getting sick. Correction: I am sick. I woke up this morning around ten thirty and thought, there is no way I could have gotten up at seven. So it's all for the best.

Well, the clock is slowly creeping toward one thirty and then my ride will be here.
Ciao

--Good luck. I wish you well, for all that wishes may be worth. I hope that love and strength are with you for the length of your time on earth.--

When you feel all alone
And the world has turned its back on you
Give me a moment please to tame your wild wild heart
I know you feel like the walls are closing in on you
It's hard to find relief and people can be so cold
When darkness is upon your door and you feel like you can't take anymore
Let me be the one you call
If you jump I'll break your fall
Lift you up and fly away with you into the night
If you need to fall apart
I can mend a broken heart
If you need to crash then crash and burn
You're not alone
When you feel all alone
And a loyal friend is hard to find
You're caught in a one way street
With the monsters in your head
When hopes and dreams are far away and
You feel like you can't face the day
Let me be the one you call
If you jump I'll break your fall
Lift you up and fly away with you into the night
If you need to fall apart
I can mend a broken heart
If you need to crash then crash and burn
You're not alone
And there has always been heartache and pain
And when it's over you'll breathe again
You'll breath again

Assorted Ramblings:

It's amazing what a little perspective will do for you. You can read or see or experience something and just kind of think, "okay, that was interesting." And then you discover something and when you go back through your memories, it's like "OOOOHHHHH. Is THAT what that was all about," or, "is THAT what that meant," and stuff like that. It's kind of like walking into a room that's dark, tripping over a big black object and walking out, then walking back in when the light's turned on and seeing that it was a rhinoceros. Or something.

And just because I think this is so cool:

Aoccdrnig to a rscheearer at Cmabrigde Uinervtisy, it deons't mttaer in waht
oredr the ltteers in a wrod are, the olny iprmoatnt tihng is taht the frist

can sitll raed it wouthit maojr porbelms. Tihs is bcuseae the huamn mnid deos not raed ervey lteter by istlef, but the wrod as a wlohe.
Amzanig, huh?

I worked yesterday. I got to run the register. *is happy* It's going to be weird when I go work at JJ, though. Yesterday I was ringing up sales in the hundred dollar range. When I go to JJ, it'll be in the 5-10 range. Not that I'll mind. I'm still a little weirded out when I see people spending seventy to eighty bucks on a shirt. I understand that some people do that kind of thing, but... I'm still weirded out.

All my nice rain ran away. *sniffle* I played chess last night with Ryan. It was surprisingly fun. I had forgotten how interesting chess can be. Then we did this doodle thing and made a house that looked like something I drew when I was three. It was great fun. Then Dad came in and took the computer back. STAN, I need DSL in my room! *grin*

I really like my name. I was talking to mom about that the other day. I had gone into JJ to get a smoothie and was talking to the manager briefly, and he referred to me by name. And it's always a bit odd when people that I don't know very well use my name. I guess I don't expect them to know it or something, but everytime it happens, my ears kind of perk up and I really listen to the way they say it. I really like my name. My mother told me that they had considered naming me Alissa. While I have nothing against the name and would probably like it if they HAD named me that, I am grateful that they didn't. So Mom, Dad, if you're reading this, thanks for my name. Thanks to Auntie Pat, as well.

Physics was yesterday. It was really quiet. Chris wasn't there, and neither was Alissa. Niles talked about currents and electromagnets and stuff like that. To be quite frank, I wasn't paying attention most of the time. But Kathryn and I came up with another version of "As Good As You." Em, you're going to kill me, I know. Either that or laugh your head off. I'm not sure which yet. If I had brought it with me, I would post it, but that will have to wait.

You never got the explanation of Mr. Cherry M Voltage, did you? Well, it started with a Cherry Coke Bottle and my sunglasses. I perched them around the neck so it looked like the bottle had eyes. Then a piece of paper with "Take me to your leader" on it. Then Kathey's glove on the cap. Then Kathey's other glove around the base. Then a plastic visor above the sunglasses. Then Kathey's chapstick in the glove below the sunglasses for a nose. Then a battery on top of his head. Then an empty, oversized CapriSun container against the back for a cape. Then a pencil propped up next to him for a walking stick. Then a piece of paper propped up by his feet with "Mr. Cherry M Voltage" scrawled across it. (M stands for Mittens, by the way, even though they were gloves.)

Niles thought it was funny, anyway.

Have you ever felt that everyone was avoiding you? It seems like I can't get anyone to talk to me for more than a few minutes. My main complaint used to be that I couldn't get a guy to talk to me for more than a few minutes, but the conspiracy seems to be growing. Maybe it's just my imagination.

The Tuttles came Friday night and left Sunday morning. Aunt Vicki and Uncle Carl came Monday and left this morning. So when I go home, I get to take a nap on my bed. And do I ever need a nap. I have been going to sleep at alarmingly late hours, most of them none of my doing. Some people just don't seem to understand that I need sleep when I have college the next day. I don't LIKE falling asleep in my classes, and I'm sure my teachers aren't too thrilled, either.

The other night I finally had a dream that I was flying. I cannot remember ever having a dream like that before. Em and I were dressed in these gorgeous flowy dresses with long sleeves, and we were flying over a Disneyland parade.
Then I dreamed that Em and I were back in choir and we were singing on a Sunday night. The weird thing was, the choir was singing "Winter's Tale." Then Mom woke me up and that's what my computer was playing.

I've been listening to Disney music as of late. I like the song from Lady and the Tramp that Peggy sings. It's cute. "He's a tramp, but they love him/ breaks a new heart every day/ he's a tramp, they adore him/ and I only hope he'll stay that way."
I'd like to get the rest of the music from B&B on B. I've only two songs--Home and If I Can't Love Her.

I hate it when I have the wrong notebook. I brought one to class yesterday, planning to rewrite something I had in there that needed to be tweaked. And I discovered that it was in the OTHER notebook. *grumble grumble*

Every once in a while I'll come across a song where the music isn't that great and the guy's voice just DRIVES me NUTS, but the melody will grab me and I'll play it over and over and over. I don't know why. Or sometimes it's just the words. Or sometimes it's the way the guy sings them. I dunno. But it happens. As long as I never hear a country song like that I guess I'll be okay.

Why do people listen, read, or do something just for the sole purpose of making fun of it? If you don't appreciate something and are not trying to, just go away. Don't annoy the people who DO like it. I admit that there are things that I think are funny that other people take seriously. For instance: (sorry, Kathryn) PlusOne. I have never, do not, and probably will never like their music. But that doesn't mean I'm going to toss the cd into the player and let it fill the house so I can make fun of them. One, because I wouldn't do that to myself. Two, because I know that some people DO like it. And if you like them, more power to you. I'm also not going to read a Shakespere play I don't necessarily understand and make fun of it. So please, people. If you don't like Michael Ball, DON'T PLAY THE CD!

Okay, I feel better now.

And I think my time limit is almost up for the comptuter. This post is long enough, anyway.

Have a great day and all that, as if my saying it will actually MAKE you have a great day.

"Human beings, all over the earth, have this curious idea that they ought to behave in a certain way, and can't really get rid of it." CSL

*heaves a giant sigh of relief* I finished that poem. The one for Veteran's Day. And it is only *leans over and checks* 8:42 pm on Sunday night. Not a horribly bad case of procrastination. Now I have the rest of the evening to read. Maybe I'll post the poem at some later date. Like you're so incredibly eager to read it, right? *grin*

I worked at the store today. I suppose, considering that this is my first day of my first "real" job, I should be more excited. I dunno, I am excited I guess, but it just seemed natural. Working, that is, not necessarily working retail. While I plan on enjoying this, I don't think retail is for me. I'm planning to apply for Jamba Juice as soon as this job ends, and I think I'll actually go through with it this time.

Speaking of going through with it, I plan to work on getting my permit before the month is out. (and I will probably feel pretty silly if December slips by without my having a permit.....) But I'm serious about this.

For Kathryn:
{Regarding post-humous knowledge}
"Of course, Bizet never knew that Carmen was a hit until after his death...."

I'm going to go read a book now. I expect I will have lots of interesting things to say later, and, of course, I will forget to post them. Or when I sit down to post, all intelligent and coherent thought will fly out of my head, as it usually does. *Grin*

Aight. I'm out.

'Night, everyone.

Normal Vs. Lamron

For quite a long time, I've gone back and forth with numerous people about normalacy. It's one of those abstracts where there is no right and wrong and positions are flexible. I decided that I did not like being termed "normal" and thus switched to being "lamron," as is evidenced by my blog url. I have, however, never been able to find a definition of normal that completely satisfied me. Normal is such a subjective word and its meaning changes constantly. It does not mean the same thing for all people, thus it is hard to define. Even the dictionary has a hard time defining it without reverting to using the very word it is trying to define. For instance: Conforming with, adhering to, or constituting a norm. Something normal; the standard. And so on and so forth.
But I finally came up with a definition that suits me, but I'm sure many of you have arrived at this same conclusion far before I have.
Normal is the expected.
Of course, it is dependent upon the situation, the person, the era, the surroundings, and/or the occupation to define what is expected. For me, normal is going to college on Wednesday. Abnormal would be getting to college and finding that my classes had been cancelled. This would be unexpected, therefore considered abnormal. A person doing jumping jacks in the quad with a rubber chicken strapped to their head and holding a yodeling duck would be very unexpected, and thus considered very un-normal.
I now have to say that normal is not always bad. Experiencing the expected can be reassuring at times, especially after going through a very abnormal situation. But don't get stuck in a rut, because then you'll have a very limited definition of normal.

Until later--

Don't worry, be lamron!

It was supposed to rain today. It's not. *grumble grumble*

I was going to write something, I really was, but I wrote a letter to Christine Random instead.

So. I'll write later. *grin*

There is one little thing I don't like about Napa. Okay, maybe there's more than one (like Copia), but the others are minor annoyances. This one is a BIG DEAL! Sometimes. Or maybe it's not.

It doesn't snow here.

I want it to snow.

*pouts*

"Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow"

*sighs*
But I'll survive without it. I always do. *strikes a stoic pose* *realizes she doesn't know how to strike a stoic pose* *gives up entirely and goes to make herself some hot apple cider*

The domestic bug has struck again. And I was its victim.
Saturday night, as you know, I came home and made crepes with Amanda. That was the beginning.
I made them again last night.
Today, I came home with the urge to bake again. I made Oatmeal cookies and prepared the dough for Snickerdoodles. I would have baked those as well, but I was interrupted. We then went on a shopping excursion to Sam's club.
Earlier today, Mom, Kathey, and I went to WalMart. I found the cutest purple sweater and a matching skirt. There was a darling jean skirt as well, but it didn't fit.
We had a new student in Physics today. Mr. Cherry M. Voltage. I'll tell you more about him in a later post. I have it all written down somewhere and don't feel like getting up and looking for it. Speaking of Physics, I got a 96 on the test. If I had been paying attention, I would have gotten a 97. I marked the wrong answer on my scantron. *shrugs* Not a big deal.
Have I mentioned that I like the weather? "Glorious. Simply glorious!"
I have lots and lots of Christmas music on my computer now, including the Michael Ball Christmas album. *waves to Kathey* Thank you!
Well, I have a History Chapter to read. Something about Texas and the Mexican War. Sounds like fun.

Au revoir.

"It's kind of . . . weird, you know? Like it's there, but it's not really. I mean, sometimes it is, but not always. I don't know."

I love the cold. I really do. I like having my cheeks frozen and my fingers numb. Call me crazy, call me weird, but I'm not lying. This is great stuff.

I've been listening to Christmas music. Kathey gave me a Michael Ball Christmas cd. *swoons* And I made myself a mix of Mannheim Steamroller, Tchaikovsky ballets, and several assorted artists. It's about an hour and a half on my computer, and about an hour and ten minutes on my cd.

Emma did my blog. Isn't it pretty? *grins* She did a great job.

I don't have that much to say right now. Have a great day and all that.
Cheerio.

We (the bloggies and one) went caroling last night! Yay! I had fun. We all dressed up in nice WARM outfits--Kathey was a gypsy-type person, Crystal was a princess/Cinderalla-type person, Emma looked like something out of a winter perfume advertisement, Amanda was our contemporary caroler half the time then changed into velvety stuff, and I tried to pull off the Victorian caroler look--if I pulled it off, it was the muff. ;-) We went hither and thither, to and fro. First, however, we went to see Bro. Price. He liked it and told us to say "Happy Easter" at the end of the songs. We were told we HAVE to do it during the actual Christmas season.

So... What do you think of my blog? *grins proudly* Emma did it. I looked over her shoulder. But shhh! *looks around* Don't tell anyone!

I went to Marine World today. It's the last time I'll go until next year. If I go next year. I'm still considering that.
One of the best parts of MW is the food--the crepes, the corn, and the cakes. Funnel cakes, that is.
The bad news is that we won't be able to get those items from MW until next year.
The good news is that Amanda and I went to my house afterwards and learned how to make crepes. *rubs tummy* They were pretty good, if I do say so myself.
It's cold! I'm so happy! I'm having to keep my blankets piled up and a heat bag down by my feet at night, and I get to wear sweatshirts during the day!!!
Now I have to go prepare my Sunday School lesson. Have a great night, everyone.
