Into the West

This is one of my favorite songs. To me, this is the ultimate friendship song.
If you ever need someone to talk to, dump on, or hang out with--I'm all ears.

Crash And Burn
"When you feel all alone
And the world has turned its back on you
Give me a moment please to tame your wild wild heart
I know you feel like the walls are closing in on you
It's hard to find relief and people can be so cold
When darkness is upon your door and you feel like you can't take anymore

Let me be the one you call
If you jump I'll break your fall
Lift you up and fly away with you into the night
If you need to fall apart
I can mend a broken heart
If you need to crash then crash and burn
You're not alone

When you feel all alone
And a loyal friend is hard to find
You're caught in a one way street
With the monsters in your head
When hopes and dreams are far away and
You feel like you can't face the day

Let me be the one you call
If you jump I'll break your fall
Lift you up and fly away with you into the night
If you need to fall apart
I can mend a broken heart
If you need to crash then crash and burn
You're not alone

And there has always been heartache and pain
And when it's over you'll breathe again
You'll breath again

When you feel all alone
And the world has turned its back on you
Give me a moment please
To tame your wild wild heart

Let me be the one you call
If you jump I'll break your fall
Lift you up and fly away with you into the night
If you need to fall apart
I can mend a broken heart
If you need to crash then crash and burn
You're not alone"

I cannot remember when something has hit me this hard and this fast. I felt perfectly fine on Monday. Tuesday morning, I felt a little off balance, so I picked up a Jamba Juice with an immunity boost before work. As the clock slowly ticked from 12 to 2pm, I began to feel slightly woozy. At first, I thought I was just tired, and mentioned to Rob that I was thinking about asking Mr. Davis if I could get off early. Rob said it was a good idea, that I looked pale.
That convinced me to ask. The last time someone said I was pale was several years ago when I had one doozy of a sinus infection and was having blood drawn. I was given permission to leave at 3 and the last hour draaagggeed. I began to feel lightheaded. The sight of Dad pulling up outside the store was a welcome relief. On the way home, I stopped and got a second Jamba Juice--also with an immunity boost. I never finished more than half of it, though. I got home and fell asleep for a bit more than three hours.
The next day--Christmas Eve, I might add--I was miserable. Freezing and burning up alternately, dizzy and lightheaded whenever I tried to stand or even move my head, really. I don't want to describe my cough. It was nasty. I didn't take my temp, but I know I had a fever. THe only way I felt even marginally better was by remaining absolutely motionless. So guess what? The only movement you saw out of me was my finger turning a page, or the water bottle moving. I guzzled so much water and gatorade that I am thoroughly sick of both.
Thursday wasn't any better. Friday things started to clear up. I actually felt pretty good Friday morning, but I wasn't up to moving around a great deal. So I went nuts, then on a Veggie spree.
In fact, the only reason I survived Friday and Saturday without going mad is that I had three magnificently fascinating friends sitting up with me. They kept me quite entertained and cheered me up immensely. Harry Bartel, Nigel Bruce, and Basil Rathbone. Fabulous men. I confess I have never enjoyed a man's company as much as I enjoyed theirs. I would recommend them if you are ever bedridden.
That brings us up to Saturday--today I'm feeling better, but not 100%. I'll be okay in a few days. I'm not going to Sunday School tomorrow, which makes me sad, but.... C'est la vie.
Stay healthy, everyone.

Well, let's see here.
Tomorrow's Christmas Eve, and the day after that is Christmas.
That normally makes me giddly with joy.
Right now, I'm too busy feeling sorry for myself.
My head hurts and I've got one of those nasty coughs. I feel hot, then cold, then hot again, so I'm pretty sure I've got a fever.
In short, I'm sick.
And, as I said, I'm feeling sorry for myself.
Pay no attention to me whatsoever.

Merry Christmas to all.
And to all, a good night.

Went to Costco with Mumsy today. That's always fun.
I can't believe that Christmas is less than a week away and I have bought a grand total of two gifts. *grumbles*
So I'm going out today to get another one. Then I'll be a bit closer.
It's weird. Most years I'm shopping all the time but I never know what to get.
This year I know pretty much exactly what I'm buying, but I haven't been to the correct stores yet.
*shrugs*
Ah, well.
C'est la vie.

Night has fallen
A thousand stars glitter in the sky
Like raindrops on black velvet
Or diamonds sprinkled among coal
A cool breeze blows
And it's quiet
Too quiet
The silence haunts me
The emptiness taunts me
The stillness only serves to remind me
That you're not there
Your seat is vacant
My hand is cold
My voice echoes in my ears
And no reply comes
All I know is loneliness
All I feel is emptiness
When I raise my eyes to meet yours
All I see are stars
The breeze turns to wind
A bitter wind that stings my face
Clouds roll in to cover the stars
The stars that held such wonder for us
Such promise, such future
And the rain falls
It washes away my tears
And dries my fears
And sweeps away the past
But I still feel the loss
A thousand thunderstorms
Could never make me forget
The way you looked at me
A million raindrops
Could never erase the sound of your voice
From my mind
And I do mind
I mind that fate has seen fit to fling us apart
I mind that the bench beside me is cold
The clouds are blown away by the biting wind
And my heart is bathed in moonlight
Dried in the night air
Kissed to sleep by the cool breeze
The stars are particularly dazzling tonight
They glitter coldly, silent and harsh
And my hand is still cold

I'm not going to lie.

I love Christmas songs.

Traditional or otherwise.

Loves to all.

"Did it feel like a night any different
Than at least a million before
Was there an air of expectation
Like there was some kind of something in store
Did the sky have to hold back the thunder
Did the moon find new reason to glow
Could the children somehow sense the wonder
2000 Decembers ago
Were the sheep as amazed as the shepherds
At the new sight that lit up the sky
Did the willow trees whisper excitement
To the rivers and streams rushing by
Did the joy ricochet off the mountains
As it filled up the valley below
Did all the world sense love abounding
2000 Decembers ago
Was anyone able to look at the stable
And not see a child but a king
I wish I could hear back over the years
As heaven and nature sing
Heaven and nature sing
Did the walls of the barn start to tremble
With the glory they could not contain
Did anyone wake with the feeling
Of peace that they could not explain
Oh, the love must have been overwhelming
As it warmed everyone in its flow
For all of the earth is still telling
Of 2000 Decembers ago"

"Tears are falling, hearts are breaking
How we need to hear from God
You've been promised
We've been waiting
Welcome, Holy Child
Welcome, Holy Child

Hope that You don't mind our manger
How I wish we would have known
Long awaited blessed stranger
Make Yourself at home
Please make Yourself at home

Bring Your peace into our violence
Bid our hungry souls be filled
Word now breaking Heaven's silence
Welcome to our world
Welcome to our world

Fragile fingers sent to heal us
Tender brow prepared for thorns
Tiny heart whose blood will save us
Unto us is born
Unto us is born

So wrap our injured flesh around You
Breathe our air and walk our sod
Wash our sins and make us holy
Perfect Son of God
Perfect Son of God

Welcome to our world"

"I'm sure he must have been surprised
At where this road had taken him
'Cause never in a million lives
Would he have dreamed of Bethlehem
And standing at the manger
He saw with his own eyes
The message from the angels
Come alive
And Joseph said
Why me? I'm just a simple man of trade
Why him, with all the rulers in the world?
Why here, inside this stable filled with hay
Why her? She's just an ordinary girl
Now I'm not one to second guess
What angels have to say
But this is such a strange way
To save the world
To think of how it could have been
If Jesus had come as he deserved
There would have been no Bethlehem
No lowly shepherds at his birth
But Joseph knew the reason
Love had to reach so far
And as he held the Saviour in his arms
He must have thought
Why me? I'm just a simple man of trade
Why him, with all the rulers in the world?
Why here, inside this stable filled with hay
Why her? She's just an ordinary girl
Now I'm not one to second guess
What angels have to say
But this is such a strange way
To save the world"

So I slept later than I meant to today. Considering I was up late again last night (but not AS late as the night before) talking to Stan and Dan, I think I'm excused. I just can't believe I wasn't disturbed when people crashed through the living room this morning, as they are apt to do while getting ready to leave. When I finally tumbled out of bed... er, the couch, I discovered that the house was devoid of persons not named Nathaniel or Bethany. So. I'm here. You guys are there. And I hope everyone has a grand old day.

BTW, check out Em's blog and read Fire and Ice. It's good stuff.

Some advice:
Don't stay up until 4am cleaning your room if you can help it.
It's not something I would recommend.
Blurg.

Although large doses of BR and NB playing Sherlock Holmes definitely makes it more bearable than it otherwise would have been.

It was like, the second time in my life I was wishing I had an energy drink. Not a rockstar, but something like a monster or a red bull. I don't know. Something with a bit more kick than Ginger Ale. *Grin*

Worked today. Stamped envelopes, wrote expiration dates, and addressed envelopes. Loads of fun all around. *grin* And I saw my boyfriend. That was great.

Kathey, you won't believe me, but I seriously redid my blog BEFORE I saw yours. And it's a good thing I chose what I did, because I was thinking of doing the theme "River" as well. *Shpink*

All I can say is, great minds think alike.

Night, all.

"And when we've gone around in circles
And there's no where left to turn
The Lord reminds us once again
There's a lesson to be learned."

*blows dust away from the blog*
I haven't been very good about keeping this up, have I? *smiles sheepishly* I can't write very much now, either, since I'm supposed to be cleaning my room.

Just a word about the life of me:
I have an A in Physics. I don't have to take the final.
I have an A in PreCalc. I don't have to take the final.
I have an A in History and I took the final early today.
This all makes me very happy.
I don't know what I'm getting in my Lab, however, as he has not graded quite a few of the reports. He says he'll have the scores up on Friday. I'm afraid to look. Some of those questions were awfully underhanded. *grin*

I wrote a paper about Benedict Arnold for History. Don't ask me why. Like I needed the points. Anyway, Clymer liked it. That made me happy.

I went to lunch at Don Pericos with Natalie, Angie, and Shannon today. That was simply loads of fun. And I'm certain that Don Pericos is an excellent restaurant, if you like Mexican food. I don't, so if you don't hear me raving over that, that's why.

I saw Mr. Clymer and I think it was his wife driving downtown. Angie and I were standing on a street corner and I spotted him. Then we go to cross the street and someone calls my name. I spin around and there's the guy who sits next to me in History. It was a bit weird. I just found out today that he likes SW. All those wasted conversations. Ah well.

I love the holiday season. *sigh* Caroling on the 19th, all. Get your Carol-o-Gram on Wednesday!

Grandma is coming tomorrow and she's staying until the 27th, so I must be off to clean my room.

*waves jauntily and vanishes*

Curse the finals
Curse the exams
Curse the power that's in their hands
I know the scores I've had before
He grades me and I know I'll fail
Tests me and I'm sure I'll bail
It's material I've not seen before
I know I should probably drop
But now it's just too late to stop
I don't want to see my final score!

Oh, let me sail away
And get sleep at last
Because finals week
Cannot go too fast
And all those dozen papers
Are due today

I cannot stand another test
My body really must have some rest before
This exhaustion that consumes my soul
Can suck my blood and take control
I cannot endure this anymore!

I'm back.
