Into the West
"Why do you weep? What are these tears upon your face? Soon you will see all of your fears will pass away. Safe in my arms, you're only sleeping..." ~Into the West, LotR

...sleep...

my head tips forward
my chin hits my chest
my eyelids weigh a hundred pounds
i'd like to see you keep them open
first one yawn then another
my eyelashes brush against my cheek
my arms are heavy
and my feet sluggish
i can barely drag myself
another step
finally, i collapse
and sprawl where i am
without thought
for comfort
or warmth
so tired am i
i do not move
i use my arm for a pillow
as my eyelids fall closed
and my breathing steadies
i am borne on the wings
of slumber
to the land of dreams
and. . . finally. . .
i. . . . . .
. . . . . . . .
sleep. . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
