Into the West
"Why do you weep? What are these tears upon your face? Soon you will see all of your fears will pass away. Safe in my arms, you're only sleeping..." ~Into the West, LotR

Random Thoughts

Thread your way through life
Taking nothing for granted
Health, friendship, security
Make your memories count
Weave the story of your life
In such a way that you would not
Be ashamed to have the world
Read the pages aloud
On every street corner
Watch your words
Watch your actions
Try to understand where
Others are coming from
Have a hobby or three
But don’t let them distract you
From the truly important
Things in your life
Family, Friends, Faith
Learn from other’s mistakes
You can only make so many
Listen to the elderly
Even if they may not know
A lot about where you’re at
They have a lot of experience
At this game we like to call life
Have a pet or three
Something that’s always glad to see you
When you walk in the door
Tired from work
Or exhausted from school
Be careful where you give your heart
You can never get it all back
Prioritize
You can’t do everything
So don’t get caught up
With the insignificant details
That you won’t remember two days
From now, let alone two years
Get that extra hour of sleep
Don’t worry about the two problems
You left undone in your homework
Skipping class (not chronically
But every now and again)
Is good for the spirit
If not always for the grade
Weigh things in the balances
And consider the cost
Be careful where you go
What you do and say
Eyes are watching you
They may come from
Unexpected places
But they’re always there
You’re somebody’s role model
As much as you may dislike it
Take that into account
Weather the storm
Ride out the waves
Enjoy the rain while you can
Because too much sunshine gets old
Eat some ice cream if you want
Don’t count the carbs every time
Balance your mental health
With your physical health
One isn’t any good without the other
Buy and wear comfortable clothes
Rather than something you don’t want
To impress someone you don’t like
Listen to music, lots and lots of music
But don’t be scared of silence
Expand your horizons
Listen to a bit of country now and then
Honesty is refreshing
Never forget your roots
And those who gave you a boost
Learn to fly with your own wings
But don’t neglect the nest
Write a bit, read a bit
Reflect and contemplate
Learn to let the little annoyances
Brush over you like a feather
Don’t get caught up with the incessant
Tick Tick Tick Tick Tick
Coming from the room next to you
Forgive, forget, and then be friends
If at all possible
A friend earned is sweeter than a friend met
Don’t give up after the first try
Be willing to learn new things
From everyone, everywhere
But don’t be “so opened minded
That your brains fall out”
That does you no good
And don’t neglect your faith
But don’t be “so spiritually minded
That you’re no earthly good”
Remember that you’re here
To help others all you can
Don’t concern yourself too much about the future
The future is built on our todays
And what we do with them
And the big decisions
Will be forced by the little ones
Take time to smell a flower
Or to plant one with a child
Don’t forget the simple pleasures
And don’t ever, ever forget
That two people will always love you:
Me, but even more than me
God.
