Into the West
"Why do you weep? What are these tears upon your face? Soon you will see all of your fears will pass away. Safe in my arms, you're only sleeping..." ~Into the West, LotR

My Life Be Like something awful right now. I'm just upset. I didn't get the job at the library. I got up for a class that was cancelled this morning. I found out that my speedometer is broken. I almost got creamed on the road twice on Tuesday. One of my friends appears to be ignoring me... but maybe she's just awfully distracted. (No, Amanda. Not you.) Kathey and my Bean Date was cancelled yesterday, due to Kathey being sick. And I'm broke. But, on the bright side of things, I've been making wonderful progress on one of my stories. Except that now I'm stuck. Bah. |

Blast the Luck So, I leave the wedding, heading straight for the gas station and then Panda Express to get dinner for Nathaniel. I'm in nice clothes and high heels. I start driving over the Imola bridge, then notice that I've got the gas pedal to the ground and the speedometer is dropping lower and lower... and lower.... and lower..... AAAUUUURRRRGGGGHHHHH!!!!! This, ladies and gentlemen, is an historic occasion. I RAN OUT OF GAS!!!!!!! ON MY WAY TO THE GAS STATION!!!!! AAAAAAAUUUUUUUGGGGHHHHH!!!!!!!! I'm so embarrassed. Fortunately, after calling person after person and receiving no answer (thank God for cell phones), I finally got through to my angel, Kristina, who brought me enough gas to get over the bridge. Thank you very very very much, Kristina, if you're reading this! You're a life saver! I was stuck up there for half an hour, enduring the stares of everyone who drove over the bridge. One person slowed down and almost stopped, but in the end kept driving. Only one couple actually spoke to me and offered a ride. It was very nice of them. I'm just glad it's over. And, yes, I know it happens to everyone. Yes, I know it's just a part of life. And yes, I know it's not that big of a deal. I'll get over it eventually and even be able to laugh about it someday. Just not right now. Bah! Why do all my knights in shining armor live out of town? |

Of Pieces and Peace (Repost) Stuff Little tiny fragments A bit of this A pinch of that Swirl it together Mix it up good Pieces from here Chunks from there Swish it around A bit from this situation A little from that problem A chunk from that relationship A regret from that conversation A tidbit from that dilemma Swirl in my brain Clamor for my attention Vie for my thought and consideration Squished into a lump of trouble Mixed into a bundle of doubt and confusion Lumpy, ooey gooey, yucky, sticky mess All wanting my time Stealing my spare moments "Think about me!" "Consider this problem!" "Remember that issue!" "Worry about this situation!" They all scream and shriek Rending the silence with tinny voices Like claws dragging down a chalkboard All that can drown out these voices Are more voices Soon it's unbearable And I add my pleas to theirs "Leave me alone!" "Go away!" "I can't think about you!" "God, help me!" . . . I feel His warmth I sense His presence It sweeps through my mind Soothes my frazzled heart Calms my harried soul His hands gently knead the lump Smoothing out the clumps Deftly blending the cacophony Into a sweet melody Silencing this voice Lifting that one Splendid harmony Fades away Blessed silence fills my ears Calms my mind Floods my soul As He smooths my crumpled choices Into soft folds of His will And His peace envelops me As I rest in Him |

I love Aussies, I really do! Two Aussie sailors were docked in England, and they went to a British pub. They got totally smashed, drunk beyond belief. They staggered out after closing time, holding each other up, and were confronted with a true London peasouper... fog so thick you could barely see your hand in front of your face. Just then, a British general walks by. One of the Aussies says, "Hey, mate, could y'tell us where we are?" The British general looks shocked and indignant. "Excuse me! Do you know who I am?" The Aussies look at each other and one says, "We're really in trouble now, mate. We don't know where we are, and he doesn't know who he is." :o) Two Aussies died, and found themselves in front of the Pearly Gates. The angel there kinda looks them over, then says, "I don't think you two are supposed to be here. Let me go check with my boss." The angel finds St. Peter and asks him about the Aussies. St. Peter says, "Dear me, Australia is mostly peopled by criminals... they're probably not supposed to be here, but we'd better check The Book." So they both go back, but the Aussies are gone. And so are the Pearly Gates. :o) |
